The Hexagraph rod is highly acclaimed all over the world and is only made in the village of Upwood Cambridgeshire. I upgraded the single leg Fugi rings to the double leg Sic rings to target Barbel and Carp and large Chub. I possibly upgraded the reel fitting and cork but cant be sure of that. The rod tube was also an additional extra. I only fished for a couple of seasons and the rod has only been used occasionally since.
I have really looked after this rod. The plastic wrap was removed straight away as recommended. I was told you should never leave this on, as many people do, to keep the handle looking new. The rod is in excellent condition. It has a couple of superficial scratches which can be seen in photo 11 where I stupidly carried the rod split and the top section rubbed against the reel fitting.I dont feel this detracts from the rod one bit but I felt I should mention it. I also has my name on it which I think can easily be removed.
Bruce and Walker offer a modification and repair service should it ever be needed. It landed a beautiful Barbel, just shy of 18lb using 10lb line on the River Avon in Stratford in fast water just off a weir. The curve of the rod is amazing and allows you to play a big fish without fear of the line breaking.I think it would have performed the same task even on a lighter line. Its capable of getting bait out at quite a long distance. It also performs well on Carp lakes and is especially good fun surface fishing. When I went to Bruce and Walker I thought I wanted the 11-1 1/4 but just fell for the feel of the beautiful curve in this rod. This rod is capable of casting small swim feeders and pvc mesh bags.
I mostly used it with Korda accessories and the Shimano Stradivarius 4000 shown in photos, mostly because it looked so nice with this reel. I dont think I need say anymore, I feel the beauty of this rod speaks for itself, but please feel free to ask anything I have forgotten to mention.
Anything else you need to know about this rod can be viewed on the Bruce and Walker website. Kay and Brian Potter are also lovely people to talk to and Im sure would be extremely approachable should you need to ask anything. Also you are very welcome to come and see the rod in person.
