&#####x200B;&#####x200B;&#####x200B;&#####x200B;&#####x200B;&#####x200B;&#####x200B. Two Thomas & Thomas "The Classic" Bamboo Fly Rods. Up for sale are two very nice Thomas & Thomas Classic Bamboo Fly Rods. Because these rods have consecutive serial numbers (2038 & 2039) I decided to list them as a pair.

From my understanding, in 1969 Thomas & Thomas began manufacturing rods with serial number 2000; making these two rods a very early production. Both of these rods show signs of honest wear and do need minor work in order to get them into fishable condition. The main setback is both of the rods have slightly loose ferrule fitment and they do not sit tight enough. As you see from the photos, these rods have two different types of ferrules. According to my research, in the early days, Thomas & Thomas experimented with different ferrule types.

Perhaps, they didn&#####x2019;t use these ferrule styles on future models because of the loose fitment (or simply over time, the metal contracted just enough to cause the ferrules to fit loose). The second thing I need to mention is both of the tips on rod number 2038 will need the guides closest to the ferrule rewrapped (one is completely off and the other is half off; see photo). The last thing I need to mention is the tip labeled 2039-1 has a slight bend and also a small gash in the bamboo (the gash is about 16&#####x201D; up from the ferrule; see the last photo).

Overall, these rods obviously weren&#####x2019;t kept in the closet their whole life's; however, considering that these rods are nearly 50 years old, they are in great shape and are worthy of a proper restoration. You rarely ever find rods with sequential serial numbers, let alone from one of the first few batches of rods Thomas & Thomas ever built. Don&#####x2019;t miss out on a piece of Thomas & Thomas history. &#######xA0;Both rods come with red socks possibly original? &#######xA0;I will also include the tubes these rods came with; I believe they are original as well (aluminum with black plastic cap, with the bead chain).

Please note, one of the caps is missing and the tubes have old tape on them. If you have any other questions, please don't to ask. Please see all photos and thank you for looking.

&#######xA0; &#####x2022; It is important to me that the item you receive is the item you were expecting. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please don&#####x2019;t hesitate to reach out.

When packaging, I make sure there is no&#######xA0. I will not use a rod tube or box that feels weak. Follow us on Instagram for updates and additional reel photos.
